About the School Board: The Rumney Memorial School Board is an elected body representing the citizens of Middlesex with regard to the town's responsibility to educate its elementary school children. As such, the board discusses and makes decisions regarding school policy, finances, and personnel. Board members are chosen by Middlesex voters at March elections to serve terms of either 2 or 3 years.

Unless otherwise warned, School Board meetings are held in the Rumney Memorial School library at 6 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month, except in January and March, when they are held on the 2nd Tuesday. Meetings are public and are warned at least 24 hours in advance. The agendas and board minutes are posted at school on the main bulletin board and at the Middlesex Town Hall.

Contacting the School Board: Because its activities are publicly conducted by law, the Board may not engage in private dialogue but welcomes input from Middlesex community members. Such input will be taken into consideration in planning its normal proceedings. Specific requests for information or other responses will be acted upon as seems most appropriate within legal guidelines.

Goals of the Rumney School Board of Directors (adopted 2/3/09)

GOAL 1: The Rumney School Board will develop and maintain a continuous, five-year Capital Improvement Plan that clearly states timelines and the upcoming needs of the building.

GOAL 2: The Rumney School Board will work with the principal to develop a procedures manual for Rumney Memorial School. The procedures manual will include both general school operating procedures and procedures that specifically flow from board-adopted policies.

GOAL 3: The Rumney School Board shall become better educated about Rumney’s current position and needs regarding the new math curriculum, technology integration and other curricular areas.

GOAL 4: The Rumney School Board shall be more visible and accessible to the Rumney community and Middlesex community at large.

GOAL 5: The Rumney School Board shall support professional development for all Rumney faculty and staff that aligns with school action and strategic plans.
